Aix-Marseille School of Journalism and Communication Partners with WAN-IFRA for the 77th World News Media Congress

Aix-Marseille School of Journalism and Communication (EJCAM), a faculty of Aix Marseille University, is proud to announce a partnership with WAN-IFRA for the 77th World News Media Congress, taking place from 1 to 3 June 2026 at the Palais du Pharo in Marseille.

This partnership represents a unique volunteering opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience at a high-impact international media event and to work closely with professionals from the global news industry. As part of the collaboration, students from Aix-Marseille School of Journalism and Communication will actively participate in the operation of the Congress and will benefit directly from the event through practical experience, exposure to international media leaders, and access to high-level discussions.

For journalism and communication students, the Congress will offer a chance to meet and interview journalists, editors-in-chief, and media executives from around the world, and to produce content in a variety of formats. They will also be exposed to media relations activities, event communications and coordination.

“We are proud to partner with WAN-IFRA for the Congress, which has not been held in France for more than twenty years. Marseille is a hub of journalism and media innovation, thanks in particular to the work of EJCAM, a school recognised by the global media community."

Pauline Amiel, Director of EJCAM

“This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to supporting the next generation of journalists by offering students meaningful, hands-on experience at an international media gathering. By welcoming students into the Congress environment, we aim to encourage professional curiosity and provide early exposure to the scale, diversity, and dynamics of the global media community.”

Sumithra Hönig, Director of Global Sales & Events, WAN-IFRA

Organised by WAN-IFRA in collaboration with the CMA Media Group, the World News Media Congress is the annual flagship event of WAN-IFRA. The 2026 Congress will be built around the theme "Rising Voices. Emerging Risks. Inspiring Futures." It brings together newsroom leaders, publishers, editors, and innovators from across the globe to address the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing the news media industry. Over three days, participants will explore bold ideas, innovative technologies, and forward-looking strategies shaping the future of journalism and news media. High-level discussions will focus on trust, sustainability, artificial intelligence, audience engagement, press freedom, and the evolving role of media in democratic societies. In addition to the three conference tracks focusing on AI, editorial, and revenue, other key highlights include the Digital Media Awards Worldwide and the prestigious Golden Pen of Freedom Awarding ceremony, which honours outstanding contributions to the defence and promotion of press freedom worldwide.
